Heritage High School

August 8, 2021

Hello Patriots,

Welcome back to on campus learning!! We are pleased to have students back in school engaging in both academic and extracurricular activities once again. Our priority is to create and maintain a safe learning environment that promotes creativity, collaboration and critical thinking for all students and staff.  Now more than ever, it is imperative that we work as a team to ensure our school year returns back to a sense of normalcy.

While learning remotely, students and staff acquired long-lasting skills which increased our ability to be flexible and resilient. As such, we have an opportunity to create new traditions while also honoring established customs. As our school community returns, increased engagement with parents is vital.  One of the most important components of an exceptional school is a partnership between home and school. This year, there will be opportunities for parental involvement as we work toward strengthening our partnership with a focus on student success.

Heritage is an Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) National Demonstration School. Our academic focus at Heritage High School is a source of pride. This year, we will be going through the AVID revalidation process that evaluates our school wide AVID strategies which benefits all students.  In addition to the revalidation process and annual state assessments,  there will be many methods to measure and celebrate our performance and achievement.

Together, we will navigate through pathways associated with returning to school with dedication and determination. I am looking forward to a year filled with academic success and growth for our students.

About HHS

Heritage High School, the third comprehensive high school built in the Perris Union High School District, opened in August, 2007 with approximately 1180 students and the enrollment has steadily grown. The school site replaced farmland in the Romoland area and we have the second largest agriculture program in Southern California. Much of the student population comes from families who have relocated to the growing area in the last few years. Student enrollment as of the October 2013 CBEDS date is 647 freshmen, 695 sophomores, 636 juniors, and 648 seniors. Of our graduating senior class 32% are attending a 4 year University, 52% are attending a Community College, 3% are serving in the Military and 2% are attending Trade/Technical Schools. Our average SAT score is 1393 and our ACT Composite average is 19.0%.
