I'm Alex Fonseca! If you've ended up here, I have your student in one of my classes this year. I have taught at Heritage High School since 2015. I graduated with my Bachelor's in English from University of California, Riverside in 2014. I also have a Master's in Education from UC Riverside's Graduate School of Education. My passion is helping students! Before COVID, a team of teachers and I started Level UP, a one-on-one mentoring program that helps students get connected to school so that they can be more successful, both academically and behaviorally. We are hoping to get that program started up again this year. I have continued my mentoring work with students through my Peer Leaders Uniting Students (PLUS) class, where students leverage their social connections to raise awareness around relevant cultural topics such as mental health and inclusivity. I am also part of the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support Committee on campus. This committee examines best practices in discipline and interventions and implements them on our campus. I work closely with our principals, counselors, my fellow teachers, and our students to make every day a special one for our community here on campus. I also serve my community as a union site representative for Perris Secondary Educators' Association (PSEA) and as part of the Leadership Committee for the California Teachers' Association (CTA).
Currently, I oversee part of the Perris Lake Continuation School Program at our campus and Peer Leaders Uniting Students (PLUS). I am also the Plato Online Credit Recovery Lead at Heritage High School.
