Ms. Coover is an Inland Empire native and a product of the Corona Norco Unified School District. She graduated from the Graduate School of Education at the University of California, Riverside in 2018 where she earned her M.Ed. and Single Subject Teaching Credential in English. While at UCR, she conducted action research on the effectiveness of employing restorative justice practices to engage students in the pursuit of learning while building a positive classroom culture. In 2014 she graduated from California State University, Fullerton where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communications with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism. Her bilingualism in English and Spanish has enabled her to enrich her academic and intercultural experiences overseas in numerous countries throughout Latin America including Bolivia, Colombia, Peru, and Guatemala. Through these global excursions, she has also been able to further develop her linguistic abilities at the Universidad Católica Boliviana where she studied Spanish and Intercultural Linguistics. She has met all the requirements from the California Commission for Teacher Credentialing and holds a M.Ed., a Single Subject Teaching Credential in English Language Arts with an English Learner Authorization, as well as a Bilingual Authorization (BCLAD). She is currently embarking on her fourth year teaching with the Perris Union High School District at Heritage High School where she practices culturally relevant and critically differentiated pedagogies to meet the needs of her diverse learners.
For the 2021-2022 academic school year, Ms. Coover will be serving as the site's EL Coordinator as well as teaching Academic English II. The Academic English II course will be using Google Classroom as the primary learning management platform.
